    Biography : Roberto Lugo is an American artist, ceramicist, social activist, spoken word poet, and educator. Lugo uses porcelain as his medium of choice, illuminating its aristocratic surface with imagery of poverty, inequality, and social and racial injustice. Lugo’s works are multicultural mash-ups, traditional European and Asian porcelain forms and techniques reimagined with a 21st-century street sensibility. Lugo was named 2018 Ceramic Artist of the Year by the Ceramic Arts Network. His work is part of the permanent collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The High Museum of Art, the Columbus Museum of Art, The Chipstone Foundation, and more.

  • Gregory Nangle  (+)

    Biography : Gregory Nangle’s work is clean and precise yet bears the marks of the maker in the handmade idiosyncrasies of each piece. Nangle owns and operates Outcast Studios, a 10,000 sq. ft. space, dedicated to bronze casting and glass bending in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Nangle attended Tyler School of Art and The Hartford Art School, where he studied glass and metals. Nangle was assistant to Mark Ferguson in Brooklyn New York, and at The New York Experimental Glass Workshop before attending the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Nangle explores the intersection of geometry and natural forms within his designs. His work juxtaposes Minimalist geometry with forms or essences derived from nature. He founded Outcast Studios in 2000.

  • Louise Nevelson  (+)

    Biography : Louise Nevelson (b. 1899, Kiev; d. 1988, New York), a leading sculptor of the twentieth century, pioneered site-specific and installation art. She is recognized for her sculptures comprised of discarded furniture and other wood elements found in the area surrounding her studio. Nevelson represented the United States at the Venice Biennale in 1962, and today her work is held in over ninety public collections worldwide.

  • Peter Pincus  (+)

    Biography : Born in Rochester, NY, Pincus is a ceramic artist and instructor. He joined the School for American Crafts as Visiting Assistant Professor in Ceramics in Fall 2014. Peter received his BFA (2005) and MFA (2011) in ceramics from Alfred University, and in between was a resident artist at the Mendocino Art Center in Mendocino,California. Since graduate school, Peter worked as the Studio Manager and Resident Artist Coordinator of the Genesee Center for Arts and Education in Rochester, NY, Adjunct Professor of three dimensional studies at Roberts Wesleyan College and has established a studio in Penfield NY. His work has been exhibited in venues such as the Salon Art + Design, SOFA Chicago, Collective Design, Lewis Wexler Gallery, Duane Reed Gallery, Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art, Ferrin Contemporary, Greenwich House Pottery, and National Council on Education for the Ceramic Art. Peter's work can be found in numerous private and public collections.

    Biography : Serra is a contemporary Minimalist artist known for his monumental steel sculptures, though he also makes paintings and prints. His works are held in the collections of the Guggenheim Bilbao, the Dia: Beacon in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Tate Gallery in London, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, among others.
