    Detailed Description : Marcus Jansen is regarded as the inventor and pioneer of Modern Urban Expressionism. Dr. Manfred Schneckenburger, the director of documenta in 1977 and 1987, recently commended him as “one of the most important American painters of his generation.” Jansen himself describes his painting as a type of warfare: “Painting is the most intimate act of war.” Raised bilingually by his German father and his West Indian mother, Marcus Jansen went to school in Germany. He was active on the graffiti scene in Germany in the 1980s and afterwards met WEST ONE in New York and referenced Jean-Michel Basquiat. In the late 1990s, Jansen developed his unmista-kable Neoexpressionist “Crossover” style, which harks back to German Expressionism and alludes to Robert Rauschenberg’s “Combine Paintings.” We are proud to have Marcus on board for several Artfairs in the future and for a upcoming solo show at the Gallery in Basel 2019

    Biography : Anja Schwarzenbach is a very smart but reserved artist, very critical of the current development of the art market and puts great emphasis on trust and honesty. We were allowed to work with the artist since 2004 for various projects. This resulted is a friendship that allowes us for the first time ever to show works by her at the upcoming artnewyork. In the years 2004 and 2005, Anja Schwarzenbach contributed works for our pop-up exhibitions LICHT FELD 2004 and 2005.

    Detailed Description : The artist is currently working on the digital development and the sometimes absurd forms of commu-nication that were created by the “unicorn” player - information in the now spread all over the world. She uses simple dialogues between for ex. two quarreling people exchanging via sms or weird tweets by Donald Trump. Anja Schwarzenbach takes also her own communication texts, embroiders the messages on fabric and „stores“ them in plastic bags, in which we to store pills and other stuff. The Tweet (May 2017) by Donald Trump „Despite the constant negative press covfef“, which has caused a sensation worldwide and no one really understands. She takes over and turns it into a „goblin“. What is sent in seconds as a text message, the artist produces in a traditional craft technique which takes a lot of time – also with time to think ... A great way to connect the present and the future in terms of spast traditions.

    Detailed Description : Found painting’s... is how the artist describes his work and continues the description like: In my artistic expression, I am interested in exploring painting as a traditional genre. For this I use randomly found matreials, which I collect on patrols through town and country, and transport to the studio. One of the criteria is that of finding used materiali. My focus is on the „patinization states“ of the things. My goal is to build a depot through physical activity (walking around), transporting and storing. These collections of material serve as mental and physical preparation, for the actual creative process in the studio or at the exhibition venue. In these places, the different material and colors are transformed into new objects. In doing so, I orient myself to the approach of painting. I do not paint primarily on the canvas, but the approach is remi-niscent of contemporary painting. Image compositions and colourfulness, material, color and image carrier become important parameters. It is important to me that these found matreials be removed from their one-time function, so that I can transfer the actual object, sketchy and reactionary, into another context. With my „protagonists“, that‘s what I call the objects, I test them in different ways. Creating painterly and situational objects, for me, is a kind of mixture of space, time, and material that can be found in constructed situations. These, in the broadest sense, conceptual engagement with painting and object form the core of my survey.

    Biography : The work of Bildstein | Glatz compels the viewer to reflect his/her trained visual perception. Watching, observing and contemplating should not lead to generally a cepted insights, but rather question conventions, mechanisms of perception and the appearance of reality. Disassociation, valorization of the nondescript and minimal interventions in the very nature and meaning of things shifts reality towards triviality. They document their paradoxical experiments, architectural interventions and trivial shifts in either photographs or videos, or show them as installations on site, objects or sculptures. They first met in 1997 at a graffiti event in the Youth Center Between in Bregenz. In m2003 Bildstein | Glatz started collaborating. After they finished their studies at the art universities in Zürich (ZHdK) and Vienna (Akademie and Ang wandte) their work b came increasingly conceptual and installative. It is the first time that Bildstein/Glatz show their work at a international Artfair.

    Biography : Dr. Permi Jhooti was born in 1971 in London, UK. Since 2012, she works as an interactive multimedia artist in Basel, specialising in live interaction and video generation using the Microsoft Kinect technology. She has developed several techniques for generating live visuals from motion data for dance and theater. Since m1994, she has also worked as a research specialist in Motion and Artefacts in medical imaging, collaborating with universities, companies and hospitals in London, Switzerland, Holland, Sweden and the US. She has several patents on dealing with motion in the body, one of which was bought by Siemens, and is internationally recognised as a leader in people centred biofeedback imaging, with over 80 presentations and publications for her MRI research work. Summer 2015, we showed for the first time at an international art fair in Basel her work. CONTEXT Miami is her second international art fair, where Ms. Jhooti is exclusively represented by LICHT FELD Gallery with a new Videowork.

    Biography : Hubert Kretzschmar aka Hubert Art was born in 1954, in Karlsruhe, Germany. He began his career as a graphic artist and illustrator after studying visual communication and painting at Essen‘s Folkswang University, under Willy Fleckhaus and Helmut Sundhausen, and with Josef Beuys in Düsseldorf in 1974. In 1978, he settled in New York (where he still lives) and devoted himself to illustration and pioneering works of photography, video, sculpture and computer graphics. During the 1980s, he participated in, and extensively documented the movement of the graffiti-art scene off the streets and into New York‘s fine-art galleries. He has designed iconic album covers for legends of rock and pop music (Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Iggy Pop, Kraftwerk to name a few), as well as graphics and designs for most major record labels. His commercial client roster includes names like Apple, TimeWarner, Viacom, Sony, Nike and Thurn und Taxis.

    Biography : KRL was born in 1988 in Northern California, where she pursued an interest in filmmaking. She now works and resides in New Zealand. I’ve always been interested in how we memorialize ourselves through imagery: in our homes, our most intimate and treasured spaces where we should be most comfortable and honest with ourselves, our walls and bedside tables are filled with smiling photos of milestone events, birthdays, weddings, staged family holidays. They project happiness, success, love. A carefully curated projection. This series of moving portraits started out seeking to examine what it would look like to show those other moments. The ones we don’t display — the heartbreak, banality, illness, depression, unabashed fetishization, shame. These unslightly moments get lost in the careful curation of our lives, despite being a vital part of the fabric of our very selves. As framed ever-looping videos, they represent the constant movement of everything that happens between the still smiles we hang on our walls.

    Biography : Julie Nymann is a Brooklyn based artist. Certificate in Photography, International Center of Photography: General Studies, New York. Recipient of residencies at The Bronx Museum of the Arts: Artist In The Marketplace, New York, D'CLINIC Studios: MIXER International Artists in Residence, Slovenia and Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts: Juried Fellowship, Ithaca. Among others internationally exhibited at Museum of Science, Boston. Group exhibitions at Licht Feld Biennale, Basel, Anthology Film Archives, New York and No Man’s Art Gallery, Shanghai. Nymann received the First Prize at Bideodrom Experimental Film Festival, Bilbao and Queen Margrethe II of Denmark honored her with an Artisan award. Reviewed by Hyperallergic, Dazed and Confused. She was born in 1987 in Copenhagen.

    Detailed Description : Medium and Dimension: 0:12:16 loop, 9:16 HD, stereo, vertical projection with wood shavings on edge. The performer is slowly and solidly planning the laughing reflection into wood scrapes, the sound of metal planning on wood interacts with bird echoes. Shaped in a constructed platform the imagery is generated from the recordings of the artist’s live performances combining traditional craft with virtual identity. When interacting and communicating with each other we rely on technology. In breaking down physical and spatial barriers, what is the role of media? The artist is currently working on the digital development and the sometimes absurd forms of commu-nication that were created by the “unicorn” player - information in the now spread all over the world. She uses simple dialogues between for ex. two quarreling people exchanging via sms or weird tweets by Donald Trump. Anja Schwarzenbach takes also her own communication texts, embroiders the messages on fabric and „stores“ them in plastic bags, in which we to store pills and other stuff. The Tweet (May 2017) by Donald Trump „Despite the constant negative press covfef“, which has caused a sensation worldwide and no one really understands. She takes over and turns it into a „goblin“.
What is sent in seconds as a text message, the artist produces in a traditional craft technique which takes a lot of time – also with time to think ... A great way to connect the present and the future in terms of spast traditions.
