  • Niloufar Banisadr  (+)

Biography : Niloufar Banisadr was born in 1973 in Teheran, she now lives and works in Paris. Niloufar Banisadr summarizes her artworks in 5 words: conceptual, narrative, contrasting, harmonious and aesthetic. The Iranian photographer has been devoting her work as a "Self-Portrait" photographer since 20 years. It all started after an episode of censorship, when she was still a student in Teheran, she put a family member in danger. So she promised herself not to jeopardise anybody but herself if she was to be an artist. In the very first serials, it became clear that the artist would commit to a certain idea of freedom, bravery in Art and also modesty in her daily life, far from her "princess family roots: Bani Sadr". Thus she has been demonstrating how Art can be both a commercial success all around the World; while being somehow political, wise, colourful, universal and sensual. Since the late 90 ', Niloufar has been presenting almost every 2 years a new serial of photographies, which are not only derived from her artistic and persian roots; but also from her life as a woman; who decided to live in France and travel the World. Niloufar decided 15 years ago to settle in France, the works (Mes Voyages & Dieu et Mon Droit) summarize the clash of civilizations, but also the capacity through Art to make anything possible, especially to mix cultures and religions, contemporary and historical figures, wonders of nature and men creations etc... Each photo becomes the support of emotions and could, one by one, be a subject of thesis, school course or news article. Indeed, beyond the effective and direct simplicity of images, it’s a multi-layer subject, which raises infinite number of questions about our contradictions, the place of religion in our life and the impact on new medias and technologies to spread everything but what is appropriate or the reverse, in a perfect chaos where confusion is "king"! We can enjoy the constant game with appearances and manipulations, ind

  • Jason Newsted  (+)

Biography : “We/I first met Jason Newsted - actually in the guise of his art - at an art fair in New York City in 2017. Galerie 55Bellechasse was presenting at this show and our booth was proximate to a booth where a charitable foundation, near and dear to Jason’s heart, had some of his works on display. It was love at first sight. We were subsequently introduced to Jason in person by the head of the foundation and, some months later - after lengthy discussion - reached agreement that our Galerie would represent Jason world-wide in his graphic art endeavours. Love at first sight has matured into a substantial and mutually beneficial professional relationship. We are proud to be able to present the varied artistic ouevre of this highly talented, enormously energetic, endlessly creative, and sensitive individual. He is not a world-famous musical personality who just happened to take up painting as an avocation. He is, in fact, truly a painter who’s passion, energy, and intelligence manifests itself in various forms of artistic expression. It is rare to find any of his more consequential works which do not possess some real meaning - whether expressed via in-your-face overtness or much more subliminally. It has so far been a joyful ride for the Galerie to be part of Jason’s artistic journey. it is hard to predict where it is likely to lead - but we are surely pleased and excited to be “on board.”. We hope and expect many of our friends, both old and new, will join us in this adventure.” Hans Mautner

  • Pascal Vochelet  (+)

Biography : After his scholarship and studies in an architecture school in Normandie, Pascal is selected to Amiens arts and craft university. There, he improves his technique and creates solid friendships with other artists in progress and with his teacher Denis Pouppeville. Meeting the painter Yuri Kuper has also been critical. He encouraged and supported him on the path of painting. Pascal summarizes his work this way: « At first, I want to shape an image I think, with its subject, its atmosphere. This image gradually acquires an autonomy: transparencies, runs, accidents take me away from my initial project and open up other perspectives. The creation of a painting is envisaged as a game, drawing on what constitutes me: my joys, my doubts, family, childhood, French song, music in general, Ariane, all these sons of which we are convinced must have a balanced life; why not act differently? These are the cultural and sensorial gains that nourish my imagination and crystallize into images » Since 2011 and his Mastercard prize for Contemporary Art, the pace of individual and collective exhibitions has accelerated for Pascal. His works, already present in numerous collections all over the world, are now hung on the walls of institutions as emblematic as the National Assembly and the General Council of the Bouches du Rhone. Pascal is a painter who combines contrast: as modest as he is talented, discreet, while his art is straightforward, a painter very involved in his work, thus with such subtle art… in short ... he is everything and his opposite. A mysterious artist, like his painting. His exhibition catalog is already quite a program.

Detailed Description : To make the evolution of visual arts clearer, words have been chosen to describe styles and movements. Thus emerged Impressionism, Symbolism, Expressionism, Futurism, and so on, each of them describing a key moment in the history of Art. Artists usually know that they have to be surprising, to innovate and to intellectualize their work to find their own voice, then maybe to be quoted in press and eventually to gain academic recognition. But classifying artistic styles might also be detrimental to the emotion, liberty and generosity of spirit that artists try to convey and thus create concepts that only a specialized audience would understand. Few are so talented they go their own way and master it, Christiaan is one of them. As I was discovering the visuals, I found the style amazing: it changes, becomes more personal, gets stronger and asserted. His paintings have an indisputable force and an immediate effect on the viewer. Then comes the mexican period with an explosion of colors and the use of neon lights on his canvases. Christiaan Conradie paints like nobody else. He divides and connects elements, distills emotions. All the bodies he paints, often coming straight from his imagination, are full of very realistic details. At the same times, the rest of the canvas is almost left blank with touches of colors here and there, thus highlighting the whole essence of the painted character.

Detailed Description : A gallery is, above all, the story of multiple meetings. There are people, places, works, situations and all forms of emotions. 55Bellechasse was intended as such, as a collection of encounters and outstretched hands. David RAMIREZ-GOMEZ is one of these encounters, a doubly distant encounter, since he is Colombian by birth and, in recent years, resident in Denmark. This is where we crossed path for the first time. David passed by our booth, at Art Copenhagen, several times. Then, curious, I went to have a look at his works. I liked it, perhaps too much and too soon, which often discourages me. Nevertheless, there was something intimate and subtle amid this abundance of energy and colors, spread with a form of rage, very controlled, on recycled materials. Indeed, David speaks of himself, his family, his adventures and manages to transport us. Some compare him to the artist-poet that was Basquiat, and some of his works, to the Art Brut of Dubuffet or the Cubism of Picasso. Maybe, there is a little of both, or even of the three. I think David RAMIREZ-GOMEZ is all of that, but he is, at the first place, a painter and a storyteller of his life, and a tireless and hard worker. He needs it, and anything that can be used to release him from the need to create, will find a use. During a stay in Paris, he painted his vision of the post January 7th, 2015 (...), the vision of the armed and very common identity checks. David RAMIREZ-GOMEZ likes to explore other media and venues. Thus, he makes animated films, installations and performances, such monumental works that they are doomed to be short-lived. David is part of the encounters which make the profession of Artists Dealer as exciting. Hope that his life will remain as much thrilling.
