"It's just an amazing opportunity to go back to [a] place I know so well."

That's a slightly paraphrased echo of what art fair queenpin Katelijne De Backer told artnet News coincident with the announcement that she'd be helming the inaugural Art Miami New York.

The place in question is New York's Pier 94, that hallowed Hudson Riverfront spot where, in 2001, De Backer "orchestrated" The Armory Show move after it had outgrown the historic 69th Regiment Armory. De Backer, then The Armory Show's Director, dedicated the subsequent decade to ensuring the fair's robust success.

Now De Backer's back at the helm of a marquee fair in the fabled Pier 94, and the art world chatter insists she'll not simply repeat that initial robust success, but surpass it.

See for yourself come May 14-17 when Art Miami New York makes its debut.
